How Are Your Finances Effecting You?

Many people hear the term ‘finance’ and run the other way. There are a lot of people who do not have a passion for managing money and creating budgets. There are also many young adults who feel they don’t need to budget yet since they don’t have an income. It’s important to note that ‘personal finance’ is about more than just managing the money you have. It’s about the principles that we use surrounding the decisions we make. Even if we don’t have money at the moment, it’s important to know the biblical principles so that when we do have an income, we can use our resources wisely. It is better to know what you’ll be facing ahead of time than to wait until you’ve made a mistake that you cannot take back.

Finances may not seem to be an important subject in your life, but there are a lot of things that your financial health has an effect on that you may not even realize. One of those things is marital problems. Many people hope and dream that they will be one day married, but they don’t realize the important steps they could be making while they are single in order to make their future marriages even stronger. According to Marriage.com, the topic of “money” is the second most common reason for divorce. This is something that needs to be talked about because “about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce.” If taking the time to learn more about finances and ask for God’s guidance is what needs to be done to cure this, it’s worth it. Don’t wait until you start seeing negative impacts before you get a handle on managing your finances.

Finances aren’t just important because of the effects they have on an individual(s), they are also one of the most common topics that Jesus speaks on in the Bible. “It often surprises Christians when they discover just how much the Bible talks about money. In fact, there are more than 2,300 verses on money, wealth and possessions. Jesus spoke about money in roughly 15 percent of his preaching and in 11 out of 39 parables (Wealthwithpurpose.com).” It is clear that this is an aspect of our life that could either make or break us. It’s incredibly important that we know what God desires for us when it comes to our finances.
