Looking for a Few Ways to Make Some Extra Cash?

If you are anything like me, you like spending money. Although, spending money can be fun, sometimes things might run just a little bit tighter in the budget than you were expecting. It doesn’t matter who you are, a high school or college student just starting school again, a college graduate, or even someone just trying to find some more ways to bring in a little cash, sometimes finding a way to make a little extra instead of cutting items from the budget is the better answer. With that said, I would like to provide a few ideas to earn a little extra. Explore one or try all ten!

  1. Sell old books/textbooks.
    1. For me, this was an immediate go-to. Through college, I kept my textbooks and the required books that I had to buy for different courses. This can be a great way to earn a little extra cash as well as help others students as well.
  2. Sell some old or unused items around your house.
    1. Do you like to hang onto things because you think one day you might use that thing again? If so, you are not alone. I have been there. But, if you can part with whatever it may be, try selling it on the Facebook Marketplace. This is a great way to get rid of some things you may be hoarding and also get some extra cash even if it is a small amount!
  3. Offer a service that someone else may need.
    1. Offering a service is for sure a go-to for me. Think about it this way. Do you know anyone who would be willing to pay you to clean out their car, clean their house, or even do some side work? Or you could nanny and babysit for people you know as well. A little bit of extra time put in working could provide just that amount of money you needed!
  4. Start earning a little extra cash by being an Uber Driver, Door Dashing, or even driving for Shipt.
    1. This one works better in larger cities and more populated areas. If you have a couple of free hours or are making a trip through town, pick up a Door Dash order and deliver it. The same goes for picking up someone’s groceries. Taking a little extra time and doing these things for someone else could be beneficial for your wallet.
  5. Start scanning your receipts for rewards and cashback.
    1. This is a new one for me, but it is becoming more popular. You can use apps like Ibotta, Fetch, and Coupons.com. If you are going to spend the money anyway, you could be scanning your receipts and getting rewards like gift cards and cashback. Seems like a pretty easy decision to me. One down side; it is time consuming for relatively little return.
  6. Take on another seasonal or part-time job.
    1. This one requires a little bigger of a commitment making it a harder decision then some of the previous options. Maybe you are home from school for a break or you are willing to put in extra hours on weekends or evenings for a few months to raise the funds needed.
  7. Run errands for others that you may know.
    1. This one isn’t one of my first thoughts, but if you have super busy friends or people you know, see if they would be willing to pay you to do some of those extra things that they need to do for which they just don’t have time. The errands could be running to the grocery store, dropping a kid off at practice, or even dropping something off at the post office.
  8. If you are in college, look into being a TA or working for your dining hall doing dishes.
    1. These are two jobs on college campuses that are in high demand if you don’t mind doing the dirty work!
  9. Have graphic design talents? Do some freelance graphic design work for businesses or others who need a graphic designer.
    1. Are you just a little artistic and able to use technology to your advantage? Look into becoming a freelance graphic design artist. Companies are looking for people to design logos, slides, banners, t-shirts, and maybe even things you have never heard of. If it’s something you are good at and makes you a little extra cash, I say it is a win!
  10. Ever think that you could be a barber? Cut your friend’s hair on the side!
    1. This one is most definitely not for everyone because you could easily create some enemies if the hair style isn’t done correctly or if there is an injury, but if you are talented with hair clippers and want to save your friends a little money and make some yourself, start cutting your friend’s hair. It’s a beneficial way to help others and make a little cash yourself.

I hope that at least one of these ideas on the list helps you find a way to make some extra cash, and, who knows, you may find a passion of yours that you have never tried before. It’s worth a shot!
